MITGI Hosts Facility Tour for LifeScience Alley and Hutchinson EDA

HUTCHINSON, MN – May 7, 2014

Midwest Industrial Tool Grinding, Inc. (MITGI) recently hosted a tour of their Hutchinson-based facility that included representatives from LifeScience Alley (LSA) and the Hutchinson Economic Development Association (EDA). Part of a tour of Greater Minnesota, the LSA and EDA are working together to help cultivate relationships and connect industry partners.

Serving the life sciences in the United States, LifeScience Alley is a state-based trade association that works to improve the operating environment for companies through advocacy, education, innovation, and building connections throughout the industry. In Minnesota, life sciences focus primarily on renewable materials and energy, food, animal health, and medical devices.

For over 20 years, MITGI has manufactured specialty cutting tools for manufacturing plants that require extraordinary precision and repeatability. “By producing tools that are extremely precise, our standard and custom tools are exactly what the medical device manufacturing industry requires,” explains Eric Lipke, General Manager of MITGI. “We were thrilled to showcase the capabilities that MITGI has to offer to the medical device industry and to participate in this event with the Hutchinson EDA.”

“Bringing outside groups to Hutchinson helps to raise awareness of the manufacturing capabilities that are available here,” said Lee Miller, Economic Development Director with the EDA. “Tours like these allow us to show the full range of manufacturing that could apply to the life science industry, from very precise tooling to large scale manufacturing.”

MITGI manufactures Standard and Custom Cutting Tools that are built to tighter tolerances than most tools on the market. Combining innovation with quality and repeatability, MITGI tools have become the product of choice in many R&D departments and manufacturing facilities that serve the medical, automotive, and aerospace industries.
